ECG Simulator

Study modeled cardiac electrical waveforms with a repeatable sequence: confirm the trace, establish its timing and morphology, then compare one change.

Purpose

Inspect supported recordings with a reproducible signal pipeline.

The ECG Simulator imports WFDB, EDF or CSV recordings up to 12 MB. It supports selection from as many as 16 leads, shows original and filtered traces, marks detected beats and reports timing such as median heart rate.

Workflow

Confirm acquisition context before reading the trace.

  1. Open the ECG Simulator and import a supported WFDB, EDF or CSV recording no larger than 12 MB.
  2. Select the lead, start position and viewing window needed for your question.
  3. Confirm mains frequency, sample rate and units before applying filtering.
  4. Compare the original and filtered displays; filtering must not replace inspection of the source signal.
  5. Review beat markers and timing, including median heart rate, against the displayed waveform.
  6. Use the illustrative contraction view only as the tool’s visual relationship, not as a measured mechanical result.
  7. Preserve the recording provenance hash with any saved interpretation notes.
Trace features

Keep source, channel and processing visible.

  • Lead and window: Which lead, start point and duration are displayed?
  • Signal context: What sample rate, units and mains setting are in use?
  • Original versus filtered: Which features persist across both views?
  • Beats and timing: Do markers align with the trace, and what median heart rate is reported?
  • Provenance: Does the saved hash still identify the recording that was reviewed?
Filtering changes the display

Always retain the original trace as the reference when comparing filtered output or beat timing.

Interpretation

Explain the modeled trace, not a patient.

Describe the waveform behavior shown and relate it to the simulator’s selected condition. Real ECG interpretation depends on acquisition quality, calibration, lead context, symptoms and clinical history that this educational model may not provide.

Limits

Not for clinical ECG interpretation.

Never use the simulator to diagnose an arrhythmia, evaluate symptoms, make an emergency decision or replace a 12-lead ECG and qualified interpretation. Seek emergency care through local services for urgent symptoms.
